Pandharpur Wari or the annual pilgrimage to the seat of lord Vitthal for Ashadhi Ekadashi is one of he oldest traditions in Maharashtra. Unfortunately, not many Marathi films have featured the Wari, with a few exceptions like Mauli (2018) and Elizabeth Ekadashi (2014).

Now comes another film which will have the Wari play a prominent part in the story. Directed by Rishi Deshpande, Nirmal En Route (2020) is the story of two strangers who take part in the Pandharpur Wari.

The filmmakers released the first poster for the film on the occasion of International Women's Day yesterday. The poster shows a man and a woman walking along a deserted road. According to the filmmakers, the film is about a woman's struggle to break free from societal norms.

The film stars Ketaki Narayan and Ankur Rathee and has a strong supporting cast of Satish Pulekar, Rohit Kokate and Madhav Abhyankar. It is produced by Jagannath Surpure, Global Seva and Adyot Films. Nirmal En Route has travelled to various international film festivals and won many awards. The makers are yet to reveal its release date.
