Well-known actor Ajinkya Deo will be returning to Marathi cinema after four years with Zol Zaal. While not much is known about the story of the film, the actor will be playing the role of a duty-bound police inspector named Abhimanyu Shinde.

Speaking about his return, Ajinkya Deo said in an official statement, “I am happy to return to Marathi cinema after a hiatus. I was away from Marathi cinema for a few years because of other projects. I was eager to do a Marathi film but I wasn’t getting the kind of roles I was looking for; one tailormade for me. My wish was fulfilled because of Zol Zaal in which I was highly impressed with the character I was offered.”

Zol Zaal is directed by Manas Kumar Das and produced jointly by Gopal Agarwal, Anand Gupta and Sanjay G Agarwal.

It was an instant yes from the actor when he was offered the film. “I had already decided to do the film while the producers were narrating it," he said. "My character Abhimanyu has different dimensions like humour, sensibility and dedication to duty. Also, with this film I will again be doing action on screen. I have always received the audience’s love and it seems it will increase after Zol Zaal.”

Ajinkya Deo’s previous Marathi film was Nagpur Adhiveshan (2016). His latest on-screen appearance was in the Hindi movie Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior (2020) where he played Chandraji Pisal. Interestingly, before that he had played Tatya Tope in the English-language film The Warrior Queen Of Jhansi (2019).

Zol Zaal will be released on Maharashtra Day, 1 May.
