After the makers of the Amitabh Bachchan, Ayushmann Khurana-starrer Gulabo Sitabo (2020) and Vidya Balan's Shakuntala Devi (2020) opted for a digital release of the films on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video, another much-awaited film is also skipping a theatrical release. Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (2020) starring Janhvi Kapoor will now releases on Netflix.
Netflix India made the announcement on Tuesday morning by sharing a video on its official Twitter handle. The inspiring video has a voice-over by Kapoor.

Directed by Sharan Sharma, the film is a biopic of Indian Air Force pilot Gunjan Saxena, who along with Srividya Rajan, became the first Indian women fighter pilots to venture into a war zone. Saxena was awarded the Shaurya Vir award for her courageous efforts in the 1999 Kargil war.
Jointly produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Production and Zee Studios, the biopic also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Angad Bedi, and Vineet Kumar.
Earlier, the film was scheduled to be released on 13 March in theatres but was pushed to 24 April to avoid a clash with the Irfan Khan-starrer, Angrezi Medium (2020). Even though the lockdown is slowly easing off, there is no news as yet on when theatres will reopen. Hence, the makers have decided to take the digital route for their film, like many others.
