Vikramaditya Motwane acquires series rights for bestseller Black Warrant

Vikramaditya Motwane is focusing his attention on the series format. The filmmaker's production company has recently acquired, along with Josy Joseph's Confluence Media, the rights to Black Warrant: Confessions of  a Tihar Jailer, the bestselling book by Sunil Gupta and Sunetra Choudhary.

Published last year by  Roli Books, the memoir recounts Gupta's three decades at Tihar, one of the world's most notorious jails. In a press release, Gupta shared, "The book in real sense reflects the functioning of Tihar, Delhi government and the criminal justice system as experienced by me. It is a true story. I hope we are going to achieve new milestones in dissemination of knowledge contained in book."

Motwane, who last directed and served as showrunner on Netflix's Sacred Games, is also working on a Hindi-language young adult dark comedy-drama series, which will be co-produced by Legendary Global and Library Pictures, both Los Angeles-based companies.
