With lockdown rules easing up currently, things are slowly coming back to normalcy all over the world. For the United Arab Emirates (UAE), it means that Hindi film comedies, Good Newwz (2019) and Dream Girl (2019) will be re-released soon.
Starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani, Good Newwz will be the first of the two films to hit the theatres on 11 June. Directed by Raj Mehta, the film revolves around two couples' tryst with in vitro fertilisation and what happens when the sperm samples get swapped.
Reacting to the news, Akshay said in an official statement, “Dubai has always given so much love to my films. The re-release of Good Newwz is special, especially during such times. I hope it manages to entertain the audience once again.”
Apoorva Mehta, chief operating officer (CEO) of Dharma Productions, the producers of the movie, is overjoyed with the development. “Today we are extremely excited and overjoyed to support Dubai, as it begins its journey to normalcy and opens theatre viewing for the public. I am certain that Good Newwz will bring the right dose of entertainment on the big screen and hopeful respite for the people in Dubai,” he said in an official statement.
Dream Girl, which stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Annu Kapoor, Nushrat Bharucha and Rajesh Sharma, will be released at a later date. The film is about a man who makes a fortune after pretending to be a female.
Vibha Chopra, global syndication and international film distribution head for Zee Entertainment, believes such films are the need of the hour in such times. “The world has been going through a tough time. The re-release of Good Newwz and Dream Girl is an opportunity for the audience to take a break from the chaotic scenario and experience the joy of watching films on the big screen, keeping health and safety at the forefront,” she said in a conversation with the daily Mid-Day.
