The horror-comedy genre is the least explored in Marathi cinema, with Mahesh Kothare's Zapatlela series and Pachhedlela (2004), being the exceptions. But now we have a new horror-comedy web-series, Bhootatlela, which is now streaming on MX Player.
Directed by Shivaji Lotan Patil, the trailer of the show, reveals the simpleton Rayba (Priyadarshan Jadhav), who is set to get married to the beautiful Shivani, (Surabhi Hande). But matters take an unexpected turn on the night of the haldi ceremony, held a day before the wedding, when a beautiful ghost, Sudha (Sayli Patil) appears and starts haunting him. She makes an appearance again in the midst of the wedding festivities. Why is she haunting him? And why is he the only one who can see her?
Jadhav, who is known for his comic roles, will make his digital debut with Bhootatlela. The trailer also gives us glimpses of his impeccable comic timing.
Though the makers are calling it a horror-comedy show, there hardly seems to be any element of horror in the trailer. Let us hope that the show will have some actual scary scenes.
