Urvashi Rautela's Virgin Bhanupriya is all set for its digital premiere on the Zee5 OTT platform. The film, directed by Ajay Lohan, will bypass a theatrical release and go directly for a premiere on Zee 5 on 16 July.
The film was earlier slated to be released in theatres on 12 June, but since there are no signs of cinema halls reopening soon, producer Shreyans Mahendra Dhariwal opted for a digital release.
Talking about her character, lead actress Rautela said in a statement, "My character is extremely relatable to the youth who practise celibacy for finding ‘the’ one. It’s a perfect weekend watch for viewers, with candid performances and a laugh riot.”
Virgin Bhanupriya revolves around a conservative college-going young woman who decides to lose her virginity. The supposedly easy task proves to be a tough ask and all her attempts go in vain. When a fortune-teller predicts that she will forever be virgin, she decides to prove him wrong. But will she succeed in her mission? That forms the crux of the narrative.
Along with Rautela, Virgin Bhanupriya stars Gautam Gulati as her love interest and Archana Puran Singh, Delnaz Irani, Rajiv Gupta, Brijendra Kala, Niki Aneja Walia and Rumana Molla.
Following the Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer Ghoomketu (2020), which was premiered on Zee5 on 22 May, Shoojit Sircar's Gulabo Sitabo (2020) starring Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana, which was released on Amazon Prime on 12 June, and the Vidya Balan-starrer Shakuntala Devi (2020), which is slated for release on the same platform, Virgin Bhanupriya will be the fourth Hindi film to be released directly online.
