Work on Marathi film Bablee resumes in the ongoing phase of unlock 1.0

Directed by first-timer Robert Megha and Pradeep Kumar Verma, the film appears to be a love story with a dash of humour.

After the huge success of Nagraj Popatrao Manjule’s Sairat (2016), Marathi cinema has seen a spate of love stories. We can now add first-time director Robert Megha’s upcoming film Bablee (2020) to the list. Like most projects, work on the film too came to a halt during the lockdown. But with unlock 1.0 under way, the makers have resumed work on Bablee.

The film has been co-directed by Pradeep Kumar Verma and produced by Satish Samudre of Passion Movies, who is also the story writer. But its cast and the main story are currently under wraps.

The first poster, which was recently released, features the hands of two lovers intertwined along with pink-coloured flowers. This is enough to indicate that the film is about two lovers. The film’s tagline, which translates to:  call me anything Bablee except your brother, indicates that the film is likely to have a healthy dose of humour.

The makers have claimed that the film's subject is unique. “The director is confident of surprising the audience with the uniqueness of the subject and its treatment,” said an official statement from the makers.
