Choreographer Saroj Khan hospitalized; tests negative for COVID-19

Veteran choreographer Saroj Khan was hospitalized on Saturday, 20 June, due to breathlessness. According to the Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency reports, the 71-year-old was rushed to Guru Nanak Hospital in Bandra, Mumbai after she complained of difficulty in breathing. Khan also had to undergo a mandatory COVID-19 test and has tested negative.
A close family source told PTI that she is feeling better and showing signs of recovering. "She doesn't have any symptoms. She is likely to be discharged in a day or two," the source added.
Director Kunal Kohli also shared an update on Saroj Khan's health on Wednesday morning. He said that he had spoken to her son, choreographer Raju Khan, who said that she was recovering well.

Khan, who has three National awards to her credit, has choreographed over 2,000 songs in a career spanning 45 years. She started her career as an independent choreographer in 1974 with Geeta Mera Naam and is credited with iconic dance numbers like 'Hawa Hawai' from Mr India (1987), 'Ek Do Teen' from Tezaab (1988), 'Dhak Dhak Karne Laga' from Beta (1992), 'Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai' from Khal Nayak (1993) and 'Dola Re Dola' from Devdas (2002). The last number she choreographed was 'Tabaah Hogaye' from Kalank (2019).
