Prakash Jha’s Pareeksha to be premiered at London Indian Film Festival

The film revolves around education and stars Adil Hussain, Sanjay Suri, Priyanka Bose and child artiste Shubham Jha.

Prakash Jha’s film Pareeksha: The Final Test will be premiered at the London Indian Film Festival (LIFF) on 27 June. Like other film festivals, the LIFF will also be held online this time around because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The film stars Adil Hussain, Sanjay Suri, Priyanka Bose and child artiste Shubham Jha and is going to be released directly on Zee5 later this year. It revolves around the subject of education in Naxalite-affected areas of Bihar.

Reacting to the news, Jha said in an official statement, “We are thrilled to make our UK premiere with LIFF, which is one of the finest overseas film festivals showcasing Indian films. I am looking forward to seeing how the UK audiences respond to my film Pareeksha. I am glad that the film has found a wonderful home in OTT platform Zee 5.”

Speaking about the film's subject, Suri said, “Pareeksha is a film with its heart in the right place. A father who aspires to educate his child, a child who has the seed of a genius and an officer who waters that seed for it to grow. With adequate opportunity many can bloom and that's the message I carry from the film.”

Recalling his experience working on the film, the actor added, “It was wonderful working with Prakash Jha, Adil, Priyanka Bose, Shubham, Sachin Krishn [the director of photography] and all the other crew members. I love Prakash Jha’s very early morning shifts and early evening pack-ups, it goes with my natural rhythm. Was a pleasure.”

Pareeksha is Jha’s next film as director after Jai Gangaajal (2016).
