Prakash Jha’s Pareeksha to be released directly on Zee5

The film stars Adil Hussain, Sanjay Suri, Priyanka Bose and child artiste Shubham Jha.

After Gulabo Sitabo (2020), Shakuntala Devi (2020) and Ghoomketu (2020), the next Hindi film that will be released directly online will be Prakash Jha’s Pareeksha (2020). Starring Adil Hussain, Sanjay Suri, Priyanka Bose and child artiste Shubham Jha, the film will be streamed on Zee5.

Jha had announced the film last April on Twitter. It is based on education in the Naxalite-affected areas of Bihar. Describing the film, he had said, “For his child, he dreamt the impossible! It could destroy everything. Pareeksha, a story I felt inspired to tell. Grateful to Adil Hussain, Priyanka Bose, Sanjay Suri, Shruti Mahajan, Sachin Krishna, Shubham and everyone from my lovely unit for believing.”

In November last year, Jha had revealed that the film’s story was inspired from a conversation with former Bihar director general of police Abhayanand.

“Mr Abhayanand told me that when he was posted in Jehanabad as senior superintendent of police, he used to often go to villages in Naxal-affected areas and would spot a bunch of kids whose intelligence used to bowl him out. So he started chatting with them and asking questions and encouraged them to come for special coaching, which he arranged in the town. Some of them were so intelligent that they qualified for engineering colleges,” Jha had said.

Pareeksha is Jha’s next directorial venture after Jai Gangaajal (2016). Starring Priyanka Chopra, that film was also his own launch as an actor.
