Amrita Rao forgoes rent of tenants stuck in lockdown

The actress, who has some property investments in Mumbai, received dire requests from her tenants who had to leave the city due to no income.

This lockdown has been difficult for everyone especially those who live as tenants in big cities like Mumbai. With no income in the past three months, many tenants are finding it difficult to pay the rent.

Amrita Rao, who has many property investments in Mumbai, Maharashtra, has also rented some of her property. Many of her tenants who had to leave the city, would not be able to travel back to Mumbai until June and some in July. They requested the actress to forgo their rents for the past 2-3 months.

When Rao learnt of their plight through her mother who looks after her investments, she instantly decided not only to forgo the rentals from March to May, but has also decided not to charge them rents for the month of June and July.

In her statement, the actress said, "Some of my tenants are in freelance professions like acting and cinematography. Such professions have no guaranteed monthly income, besides the pandemic is a dire situation for all and they decided to be safer with their families back home. I feel the situation calls for me to be understanding and help them in my best capacity."

Rao was last seen in Thackeray (2019) where she played the role of Meena Thackeray. The actress has two more films lined up whose shooting will start once the situation becomes normal again.
