Bhonsle trailer: Manoj Bajpayee is a retiring cop pushed to the brink

A migrant versus Marathi battle is being waged out in a small Mumbai chawl, as one frustrated taxi driver Vilas (Santosh Juvekar) leads the charge, sure that senior constable Bhonsle (Manoj Bajpayee) will be on his side. However, the principled old man, on the verge of retirement, is losing faith in the system.
The veteran is dismayed to see the decaying world around him, and furthermore has been diagnosed with stage four brain tumour. His neighbours, a brother and sister from Bihar (Abhishek Banerjee and Ipshita Chakraborty Singh respectively), come to his aid more than once. When they are being targeted by Vilas during the Ganesh festival, will Bhonsle come to their aid, or will he turn away?
Bajpayee, who is also co-producer on the project, has already picked up the Best Performance by an Actor award at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (ASPA) last year. The actor seems to slip into another intense portrayal as a Maharashtrian constable on the verge.
Co-written and directed by Devashish Makhija, Bhonsle (2020) will be streaming on Sony LIV from 26 June.
