The current lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic has had the worst impact on underprivileged sections of society. The plight of migrant workers has already being highlighted in the news, but there is one section of society that has been ignored by the national media, the LGBTQ community. Now Badhaai Ho (2018) director Amit Sharma has made a short film to highlight the problems faced by them during the lockdown.

Through the short film, Sharma wishes to create awareness not just about the LGBTQ community, but also about sex workers and HIV-infected people. The film ends with a message on how the non-availability of official statistics has led to millions of transgender persons in India not getting access to sufficient food supplies and aid during the pandemic.

The initiative, undertaken by non-profit organizations Phool Versha Foundation and NamMyoho Daan, is being supported by Sharma, Kanika Dhillon, Ness Wadia and Garima Arora.

Amitabh Bachchan has also supported this initiative by sharing Sharma's short film on his social media handle.
