The trailer of Chandrasish Ray’s debut film, Nirontor seems to beautifully convey the essence of eternity through the visuals. Featuring Prosenjit Chatterjee, Ekavali Khanna, Ankita Majhi and Satyam Bhattacharya, the trailer hardly reveals anything about the film's storyline.

There is pervading sense of sadness throughout trailer. Its slow pace and the foggy ambience of the hills that holds most of the visuals together, seeks to reinforce the feeling of loss and regret in relationships.

Chatterjee seems to be playing a character with a humble occupation. Through the visuals of him working in a deserted office and having coffee with a man (Satyam Bhattacharya) in a small restaurant, it becomes quite apparent that he is a loner, and that he has several unanswered queries from life. The same man continues to trigger these questions often with vague pessimistic yet honest replies.

Chatterjee seems to be on a continuous search, referred to as Nirontor or eternal in the film. However, there is also a continuous reference to a woman, who he seems to have lost touch with, and Khanna’s character reminds him of her. He also senses a void in himelf as he is unable to share his emotions with her.

The film promises a rather universal approach towards personal loss. The locations and the all-pervading background score seems to stress on a particular time frame in which a lot happens, but in a rather passive way.

Nirontor is slated for release on 28 June on Zee Bangla and will be streaming on the OTT platform of Zee5.
