Netflix's pioneering move at interactive viewership might have its Indian competition soon. Zee5 is set to premiere its murder mystery, Mafia, with a new interactive tool that will help viewers participate more actively in the show's narrative.

Directed by Birsa Dasgupta, the show will revolve around six former college friends who come together after an unprecedented halt of five years in their friendship. It is set against the backdrop of the quaint, dark jungles of Jharkhand with its central story revolving around a reunion party that is brewing with fun, intimacy, hatred and past betrayal.

The exception being that viewers will be able to switch the narrative and try to change the fate of the six friends involved. The strategy of turning a murder mystery into an interactive psychological play seems to be a take on the now famous Netflix show, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch.

The show will be premiered on the Zee5 OTT platform on 10 July. Created by Rohan Ghose and Aritra Sen, it features Namit Das as Nitin, Tanmay Dhanania as Rishi, Isha M Saha as Ananya, Anindita Bose as Neha and Madhurima Roy as Tanya.
