Actress Aditi Rao Hydari makes singing debut with Tamil film Jail, touched by love for the song

Actress Aditi Rao Hydari, who has made her singing debut with the upcoming Tamil film Jail (2020), is thrilled by the response the track has received and took to Twitter today to thank fans.

The song, titled 'Kaathodu Kaathanen', also features vocals by actor-filmmaker Dhanush. It has been composed by GV Prakash Kumar, who plays the lead in the film.

“Firsts are always special! Thank you GV Prakash for literally forcing me to sing this," Aditi Rao Hydari tweeted. "Thank you Dhanush for singing this with me. Thank you all for the love & making this trend #1 for so long. Keep it coming. Means the world (sic).”

It is worth mentioning that Aditi Rao Hydari had displayed her singing prowess on a Tamil singing competition for which she went as a guest. She had crooned the song 'Vaan Varuvaan' from her Tamil film Kaatru Veliyidai (2017), which was directed by Mani Ratnam.

National award-winning filmmaker Vasanthabalan returns to direction after four years with Jail, which also stars Abarnathi, Radikaa Sarath Kumar, Yogi Babu and Gautam Gulati.

The first-look poster and title of the film were unveiled two years ago. Going by the posters, it looks like Prakash Kumar plays someone locked up and the story will follow events that led to his arrest.

Apparently, Balan had planned this project with some other leading man but when things didn’t work out he roped in Prakash, who was thrilled to be part of the project.

Prakash and Balan had worked together over a decade ago on the latter’s National award-winning Tamil film Veyyil (2006). Prakash had composed the music for Veyyil.

Jail was slated for release in April but had to be postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The makers plan to release it as soon as theatres reopen later this year.
