Several members of the Hindi film fraternity have reacted with shock and grief to the news of Sushant Singh Rajput's suicide.

Actor Akshay Kumar wrote on Twitter, 'This news has left me shocked and speechless... I remember watching Sushant Singh Rajput in Chhichhore and telling my friend Sajid [Nadiadwala], its producer, how much I’d enjoyed the film and wish I’d been a part of it. Such a talented actor.'

Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, too, expressed shock and sadness in a tweet.

Actress-producer Anushka Sharma shared her grief, saying, 'Sushant, you were too young and brilliant to have gone so soon. I'm so sad and upset knowing that we lived in an environment that could not help you through any troubles you may have had.'

'I can’t believe this at all, it’s shocking. A beautiful actor and a good friend. It’s disheartening,' said Nawazuddin Siddiqui on Twitter.

Sushant Singh Rajput started his acting career with the Hindi television serial Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil (2008). His first Hindi movie was Abhishek Kapoor's Kai Po Che! (2013). The film was critically acclaimed as was Rajput's performance.

Actor-singer-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar reacted by saying that he was "absolutely stunned" by Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.

Reacting to the "horrible, heartbreaking news", actress Swara Bhasker said, "Don’t know what you were going through, but I’m sorry for your suffering!”

Production house Yash Raj Films, with whom Rajput did Shuddha Desi Romance (2013), offered its condolences, describing him as 'an effortlessly talented actor who will always be remembered'.

Singer-musician Adnan Sami and actresses Lara Dutta Bhupathi and Urvashi Rautela too offered their condolences.
