After taking his first step into the world of international music with the English number, 'Control', singer-songwriter Armaan Malik has gone ahead and released his second English track. Titled 'Next 2 Me', this song, like his first, has been produced by Arista Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment.
Malik had shared a glimpse of the song during a recent fundraising event for COVID-19.
Talking about the inspiration behind the song, Malik said, “The global lockdown has been tough on all of us, especially for those who are quarantined away from their loved ones." He said he wanted to capture that feeling of missing someone and wishing they were next to you.
"We may have all the devices in the world to keep us connected, but having that person next to you is a different feeling altogether, something that no digital connection can ever compare to,” he said.
Malik believes listeners will relate to his new song and even dedicate it to their loved ones. His last English track, 'Control', has been streamed over 35 million times on various music-streaming platforms. The song was released on 20 March 2020.
Malik, who started his singing career as a child by participating in the reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs, has already sung numerous hit songs for films and albums in languages like Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, Marathi, Malayalam, Urdu and Gujarati.
But the 24-year-old singer-songwriter wishes to be a global musician. “I’ve always wanted to take India to the world and this has been my lifelong dream. There hasn’t been a precedent before and I want to be the first from my country to become a global musician in the truest sense,” he said.
