Akshay Kumar distributed smart bands to 3,500 police personnel in Nashik today. The bands will help monitor temperature and vital counts of the person wearing it. He took the initiative to help police personnel during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking at the webinar that was part of the event, Kumar stressed on the importance of living with coronavirus now. “We have to live with it in the same way that we have been living with flu and cough,” he said.

“It should become a common thing. And we should not pay much attention. Obviously, you have to take precautions, but don’t get scared. It is because of fear that our immunity goes down,” he added.

Highlighting the need to take care of ourselves, the actor gave an example of an emergency inside an airplane ride. “If we take care of ourselves, the load on the plane staff will be less. This will enable them to help other passengers,” he said. “This situation is exactly like that. The most important thing is to take care of yourself by following guidelines. By doing that, we will lessen the load on healthcare workers, doctors and nurses.”

Kumar recently shot an awareness advertisement for COVID-19 which was directed by filmmaker R Balki. During the course of the discussion, the actor said that he felt unusual while shooting with so many precautions. But he believes this will be the new normal now.

While coming to his initiative of distributing bands to the cops, Akshay added, “As the lockdown is opening up, people have started going out and the pressure on the police force is increasing. I am hopeful that due to this technology we will be two steps ahead of the virus and will be able to take timely action.”
