With the success of Paatal Lok behind her, Anushka Sharma has shifted OTT platforms to announce her new collaboration with Netflix, Bulbbul. The actress shared the first look of her upcoming film on her Instagram handle.
In her description, the actress wrote, "Here's your first look at Bulbbul, a fantastic tale about self-discovery, and justice, wrapped in lore, mystery and intrigue, coming soon on Netflix."
The first look gives off an ominous feel with a woman rising into the air against the backdrop of a pale blood moon. A supernatural thriller, the film is in the same genre as Sharma's production, Pari (2018).
The story is an Indian fable set in 20th Century Bengal. The film follows the journey of a young girl, Bulbbul from innocence to strength, as the legend of a 'chudail' [witch] casts a looming shadow over her [Bulbbul’s] world.
The film will feature Avinash Tiwary and Tripti Dimri who were seen together in the Sajid Ali film Laila Majnu (2018). Rahul Bose will also be part of the cast of Bulbbul. It also marks the directorial debut of writer-lyricist Anvita Dutt.
The film will release on Netflix on 24 June.
