Fans of Rajkummar Rao who may have missed his turn as Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh in Hansal Mehta’s Omerta (2018), can now catch the film as it gets a digital release on Zee5 this month.

The film, which was released in theatres on 4 May 2018, is based on the life of the Pakistani-origin British terrorist Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, who was sentenced to death for abducting and murdering The Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl.

The biopic had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2017 and was also screened at the 19th MAMI Mumbai Film Festival in October that year.

The film’s director, Hansal Mehta, seemed surprised to hear that his film was finally available to view online.

The actor-director duo of Mehta and Rao are set to reunite with Chhalaang (2020). The film, which also stars Nushrat Bharucha, was due to be released on 12 June. But with theatres shut due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a new date has yet to be announced.
