The shooting of Anshuman Pratyush’s upcoming film SOS Kolkata (2020), featuring Nusrat Jahan, Mimi Chakraborty and Yash Dasgupta began today. This is the first shooting to begin after the lockdown was eased in West Bengal and 35 of the 40 crew members were present on the floors.

SOS Kolkata, which also features Santilal Mukherjee, Ena Saha and Sabyasachi Chakraborty, is an action thriller based on a terrorist attack.

According to a report by the daily, The Times of India, the first shot was a lengthy one featuring Jahan. “It was okayed at one go. Nusrat has been very cooperative. This film is not about heroes and heroines. The script is the hero and each artiste has set aside their stardom while working in this film,” said the director.

Jahan was extremely excited to resume shooting after months. “After months of no shooting, I finally entered the Movie Town studio this morning and it seems it is the beginning of a new era. All the familiar faces are clad in masks. I am getting jitters,” said the actress, who is also a Trinamool Congress MP from Basirhat, West Bengal. The actress was also happy to see the technicians back at work after so many months.

Dasgupta too was excited as well as nervous about returning to the sets after so many months. “I don’t want to divulge details about my character because I want my audience to go and watch the film. All I can say is that the film will be a treat for the audience and the whole unit is very thrilled about the project,” said the actor, who was last seen with Charkaborty in Mon Jaane Na (2019).
