Mukesh Chhabra's directorial debut film also turned out to be its leading man's swansong.

There is a lot of emotion surrounding the film Dil Bechara (2020) since it has turned out to be the last project of the late Sushant Singh Rajput. The actor died by suicide last month in Mumbai. He was only 34.
Even if you ignore this aspect, howsoever difficult that may be, the trailer for the film still moves you.
Dil Bechara is based on John Green's novel The Fault In Our Stars, which was published in 2012 and made into a movie of the same name in 2014.
It is the story of Kizee Basu (Sanjana Sanghi), who seems to be enjoying every moment of her life even though she is battling cancer.
One day, the happy-go-lucky Manny (Rajput) enters her life and falls for her. Eventually, Kizee, too, starts loving him. Her life gets new meaning.
Manny was once diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a cancer of the bone, but fought back and conquered the disease. But the danger continues to loom over Kizee.
Although Dil Bechara has the clichéd boy-falls-for-girl trope, the film still feels fresh. The trailer is a mixture of moving and funny moments that touch you more because one of the characters is terminally ill.
Rajput reminds us of his collegian act in Chhichhore (2019), his last big-screen release. But he does fit into the character. Sanjana Sanghi, who makes her debut with the film, shows a lot of promise in the trailer.
There has been a dearth of moving romantic films in mainstream Hindi cinema in recent times. Perhaps Dil Bechara will fill that gap.
Directed by Mukesh Chhabra, the film will be released on 24 July on Disney+ Hotstar in a special free-for-viewing facility. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you would be watching this film.
