Director Yogesh Vats is all set to begin filming the period drama series Gadera in Uttarakhand. The series, the first of its kind, will be based on the histroy of Kumaon and Garhwal, beginning from the Gorkha invasion to the British colonial era.

Vats started his film career with the Hindi film, Hawayein, whose release date has been pushed forward due to the lockdown.

Speaking about Gadera, the filmmaker said, "For years Bollywood stories were restricted only to the extent of cinema theaters, but with the advent of OTT platforms, competition in the entertainment industry has increased significantly. Young filmmakers have an excellent opportunity to capture folk tales and stories in cinema, which are confined to the remote villages and towns.”

The producer of the series, Siddharth Rajkumar and CEO of Jet Films and co-producer Naseem Ahmed of CJ International, said that cine lovers and the youth of Northern India are very keen on the series.

Keeping in view the severity of the global pandemic, crew members will be provided with all necessary equipment for their safety during the shoot. The audition process is also being conducted online.

Gadera will be shot in both Kumaon and Garhwal regions of Uttarakhand and local artistes will be given a chance to showcase their talent.
