In a recent interview with the website FilmCompanion.com, lyricists Swanand Kirkire, Amitabh Bhattacharya, Varun Grover, Anvita Dutt and Kausar Munir had raised a question about the lack of credits for songwriters on music platforms.

Now they have come up with a unique way to demand proper credit for their works. As many as 15 lyricists from Hindi cinema have come together to release a track titled 'Credit De Do Yaar'.

The song has been penned by Munir, Grover and Kirkire while the video also features Neelesh Misra, Manoj Muntashir, Mayur Puri, Bhattacharya, Shellee, Puneet Sharma, Abhiruchi Chand, Hussain Haidry, Sameer Anjaan, Raj Shekhar, Anvita Dutt and Kumaar. The song has been set to music by Chinmayi Tripathi and Joell Mukherji.

At the end of the video, Grover appeals to viewers to support their appeal. "We are under no false impression that you will remember our faces, but please make sure you remember our names as the whole fight is about the name," he said.

"No matter where you listen to our songs, streaming platforms, apps, or on the official YouTube channels of music companies, most of the time it happens that the credit of the lyricist is missing. We just want them to credit us properly wherever they play our songs," he added.
