Oindrila Sen to make her film debut in Magic with real-life partner Ankush Hazra

Director Raja Chanda has announced that Oindrilla Sen, well known for her television shows, will play the female lead in his upcoming film Magic.

Earlier, actress Paayel Sarkar was rumoured to be playing the lead. However, it has now been confirmed that Sarkar will be playing a crucial role in the film but the leading man, Ankush Hazra will be paired with Sen, his real-life partner, in the film.

According to press release, Chanda saw Sen performing while shooting for Challenge 2 on the same floor, way back in 2012. “I saw her and her devotion constantly and told her why doesn’t she look for a career in films?”

The director thought of casting Sen as the film's screenplay demanded her natural look. “This isn’t just cinema, this is a dream that I am turning into reality,” he said.

In the film, Hazra’s character goes through a magical transformation as he falls in love with Sen. The narrative includes elements of fantasy while depicting the duo's tumultuous romantic journey.

Noted theatre actor Debshankar Halder and actress Bidipta Chakraborty have also been cast in crucial roles.

Magic will go on the floors from 6 August. Written by Arnab Bhowmick and Chanda, the film will be shot at various locations in Kolkata.
