Make-up artiste Manish Karjaokar died this morning in Mumbai of a heart attack. A source close to the Karjaokar family said, “He suffered an attack in his sleep. The family got to know when he failed to wake up in the morning.”
Karjaokar was the personal make-up artiste of choreographer-filmmaker Remo D’Souza. He had last worked with D’Souza on Street Dancer 3D (2020), which was released in January this year.
D’Souza announced Karjaokar’s death in an Instagram post. He also posted a picture of the two of them together and wrote, "RIP Manish Karjaokar, you will be missed my brother.”
Actor Varun Dhawan, with whom Karjaokar worked for D'Souza's films ABCD 2 (2015) and Street Dancer 3D, also paid tribute to him in an Instagram Story. Sharing a picture of Karjaokar and D'Souza, Dhawan wrote, “RIP Manish Dada. I am completely shocked. He was on the sets of ABCD 2 and Street Dancer. Always jovial and a team player. These people are the real backbones of our films. Very sad news.”
Choreographer Raghav Juyal wrote an emotional post on Karjaokar's death on Instagram. He said, "I am broken today. In agony. It pains a lot to know that Dada is no longer with us. How come a person just leaves? Someone with whom you had fun and shared moments of happiness and sadness. Where have you gone Dada?"
Karjaokar had been facing a few health issues in recent times. “He had an asthma problem," said the source quoted earlier. "For this he was admitted to hospital in London during the shoot of Street Dancer and later when they returned to Mumbai.”
