The first look of Sanjay Dutt’s character Adheera from the upcoming Kannada action-thriller KGF: Chapter 2 was unveiled today on the actor’s birthday.

Sharing the poster on Twitter, Dutt wrote: “It’s been a pleasure working on this film and I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday gift.”

Dutt sports a menacing look that resembles a Viking from the ancient world. In fact, according to the makers, the character of Adheera has been inspired by the brutal ways of the Vikings.

In KGF 2, which is expected to hit the screens in October, Sanjay Dutt will play the primary antagonist. The second chapter will follow the journey of Rockybhai (Yash) as he rises to become the king of a goldmine.

In KGF: Chapter 1, director Prashanth Neel had kept the identity of Adheera under wraps. However, we learn that it is a character hungry for power and wants to become the ruler of the Kolar gold mines. Loyal to dying brother Suryavardhan, however, Adheera gives up his dream and allows his nephew Garuda to take over.

Last year, Yash had said Sanjay Dutt was the first choice for the role of Adheera. He had also said that KGF 2 would be bigger and better than the first part.

“When we made KGF: Chapter 1, we had our own inhibitions and restricted ourselves in some way," the star said. "But with this kind of success on our side, we are going all out to make the second part. We now know people are keenly looking forward to the second part and we can deliver it without reservations,” he told the Hindustan Times newspaper.

Despite mixed reviews from critics, KGF: Chapter 1 went on to become the highest grossing Kannada film with over Rs100 crore in box-office collections.
