The case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death by suicide has taken a new turn with his father, KK Singh, lodging a first information report (FIR) with the Bihar police against actress Rhea Chakraborty, his girlfriend, and her kin.
KK Singh filed the FIR at the Rajiv Nagar police station in Patna, the Rajput family's home, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including for abetment of suicide.

Sanjay Kumar Singh, inspector general of police, central range, told the Hindustan Times newspaper, “KK Singh lodged the case with the Rajiv Nagar police station against Rhea Chakraborty and her family, including [father] Indrajit Chakraborty, [mother] Sandhya Chakraborty, [sister] Shruti Modi, [brother] Showik Chakraborty and others, under sections 341, 342, 380, 406, 420, 306 and 120(B) of the IPC.”
Elaborating on the charges levelled against the Chakrabortys, Sanjay Kumar Singh said, “Sushant’s father has made a serious charge against Rhea and her family. He has alleged that she had kept Sushant away from his family and in her possession. She was also handling his bank accounts. It was reported that crores of rupees were withdrawn from his accounts.”
The Patna police has already initiated action on the FIR, the IGP said. “A four-member team reached Mumbai today afternoon and is looking at the case from all angles,” he said.
Just two days ago, on Sunday, Showik Chakraborty had written a long, emotional post on Instagram on Rajput’s death along with pictures of him and the actor together.
Earlier this month, Rhea Chakraborty had urged India's home minister Amit Shah to order a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) inquiry into Rajput's death. In that same Instagram post, she had also said she was Rajput's girlfriend.
Rajput ended his life by hanging himself at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai, on 14 June.
