The first look poster of the upcoming Tamil action-drama Vaadivasal (2020), to be directed by Vetrimaaran, was unveiled on actor Suriya’s 45th birthday today. The poster features a fiery looking Suriya in a new look. The director revealed that it is the character design look.

Based on a popular Tamil novel by the same name, the film marks the maiden collaboration of Suriya and filmmaker Vetrimaaran, best known for films like Vada Chennai (2018) and Asuran (2019).

Vaadivasal, written by CS Chellapa, is the story about a bull and the man who captures it. The film has been set against the backdrop of Jallikattu, an ancient sport practiced in Tamil Nadu in which a bull is released into a crowd of people while participants try to capture it.

The film will be produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, who had produced Vetrimaaran’s last film, Asuran starring Dhanush. However, Suriya will only work on Vaadivasal after he completes Aruvaa (2020) with director Hari. Raashi Khanna has been confirmed to play the leading lady.

Meanwhile, the actor is currently awaiting the release of his Tamil film Soorarai Pottru (2020), directed by Sudha Kongara. The movie is based on the life of Captain GR Gopinath, founder of the budget airline Air Deccan. Co-produced by Guneet Monga, the film is likely to be released later this year.
