Idiot Box trailer: Desperate lover strives to win back his ex-girlfriend in this romantic comedy

Directed by Jeet Ashok and Virajas Kulkarni, the web-series will stream on MX Player from 24 July.

Director duo Jeet Ashok and Virajas Kulkarni manage to impart a comic tone to an otherwise emotional story of a man going to extreme lengths to win back his estranged girlfriend in the upcoming Marathi web-series Idiot Box, or so the trailer indicates.

Aakash (Shivraj Vaychal) is desperate to win back his ex-girlfriend Shashwati (Sanskruti Balgude) and is helped in his attempt by loyal friends played by Aashay Kulkarni and Shivani Rangole. He tries various means, including spying on Shashawati's brother (Abhijeet Khandekar) and cousin Shamika (Spruha Joshi), to beating up goons in an abandoned building.

He soon discovers that his ex-girlfriend is set to get married to a gangster played by Akshay Tanksale. The trailer also indicates that Rangole's character has a secret crush on Aakash. It will be interesting to see how the makers develop this sub-plot.

The two-and-a-half minute trailer is crammed with information as we are introduced to all the characters in the drama. One can't help but wonder why the makers would reveal so much information about the plot in such a short trailer. One hopes that there are still some surprises that will be revealed later.

The series also features experienced actors like Pravin Tarde, Mrinal Kulkarni and Sunil Barve.

This five-part romantic comedy will arrive on MX Player on 24 July.
