Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan and Anirudh Ravichander have broken their drought with the first song 'Chellamma' from the film Doctor. Produced by Sivakarthikeyan's banner, Sivakarthikeyan Productions, the film will also see the actor make his debut as a lyricist with the song. Sung by Anirudh Ravichander and Jonita Gandhi, the song is a fun take on a new style of romance.
More interesting than the song is the promotional strategy, with the video being built around a discussion about making the song, from the banter between Nelson Dilipkumar, Sivakarthikeyan and Anirudh to the eventual high-energy composition that makes the visuals enjoyable. The song is quite catchy, with its oddball lyrics and a hyper beat.
The visuals building up to the song add to the fun quotient with the composer acting all haughty while Sivakarthikeyan plays the bumbling fool and director Nelson plays the snarky friend among the trio. This sense of comedy plays well, and adds to the fun lyrics that eventually come through.
The song has Anirudh's signature with its very local beats and energy. The lyrics from Sivakarthikeyan showcase the actor's sense of humour and mischief. The true highlight, though, are the voices of Jonita Gandhi and Anirudh that play wonderfully with each other. While the song does not have the 'viral' quality that the actor demands jokingly in the beginning, it has enough quality to get your attention.
