Rajaditya Banerjee’s documentary Death Of Death (2017) will be screened at this year's edition of the International Film Festival of South Asia (IFFSA) Toronto.
The film, an Indo-Finnish joint venture, is a fascinating tale of the Dom king who gives Hindus travelling to Varanasi, the fire of moksha to light the pyres of their loved ones and liberate them from the cycle of birth and death.
Banerjee, the younger brother of noted filmmaker Bappaditya Bandopadhyay, explores Varanasi from the perspective of death and moksha. Death has also been part of the filmmaker's other films like Death Certificate (2017), Shobbahika (2018) and ShivaRatri (2020).
IFFSA Toronto, which will be held over 10 days beginning 6 August, wlll go virtual this year. Besides screenings, this year's edition will feature panel discussions, masterclasses and other events.
