Actress Rhea Chakraborty has urged union home minister Amit Shah to call for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide. The actress, who broke her silence on her relationship with the actor, exactly a month after his death, finally admitted that she was Rajput's girlfriend.
Chakraborty, who shared a picture of the late actor on Instagram, wrote, “Respected Amit Shah sir. I’m Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty. It is now over a month since his sudden demise. I have complete faith in the government. However, in the interest of justice, I request you with folded hands to initiate a CBI enquiry into this matter. I only want to understand what pressures prompted Sushant to take this step.”
There has been a huge demand for a CBI probe into Rajput’s death by his fans on social media.
Earlier in the day, Chakraborty exposed an Instagram user for sending her rape and murder threats. The actress has been facing such backslash over the last few weeks continuously on social media from a section of Rajput’s fans who hold her responsible for his death.
Other film personalities like Karan Johar and Mahesh Bhatt too have been targeted for encouraging ‘nepotism’, which a section of Rajput’s fans believe was the reason for his suicide.
Similarly, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha too are receiving hateful comments for being a product of ‘nepotism.’ As a result of these vitriolic attacks, Sinha, Saqib Saleem, Aayush Sharma and Zaheer Iqbal have quit Twitter.
