Choreographer Rahul Shetty turns director for music video of 'Kurta Pajama'

Rahul Shetty is well known for his choreography in Hindi films like ABCD: Anybody Can Dance (2013), Baaghi 2 (2018), Race 3 (2018), Student Of The Year 2 (2019) and Street Dancer 3D (2020). He has now directed his first music video for the Tony Kakkar and Shehnaaz Gill single 'Kurta Pajama' as well as choerographed it.

Sharing his experience of shooting a song during the lockdown, Shetty said, “Well, the feeling is really amazing because I was actually living with the thought that I won’t be able to shoot this year because of the current scenario. But I am so glad I got to direct this song in this phase of the lockdown with so many limitations, less manpower, less equipment and less time.

"We shot this in six to eight hours. I had choreographed one song for Tony Kakkar before. It was a great experience because everyone had to finish their work in just a few hours."

On how the opportunity to direct the number fell into his lap, the choreographer said, "One fine day, I got a call from Tony and Anshul saying they have this song 'Kurta Pajama' and wanted to collaborate on the same. Without thinking, I said yes because I loved the title. It is such a simple hook yet so catchy.

"The first time I got to hear this track, I was glued to it. The moment I heard the song, I was humming it already. This is how I landed directing this amazing tune."

The music video will be released online on 17 July.
