Whistling Woods International is collaborating with Disney+ Hotstar to stream short films made by its students. In the next few weeks, the selected films will be uploaded regularly on the OTT platform and will be available to view in the short films section.
Alaksha, Hoop Diaries and Manorath are just a few of the films that will be uploaded. Other Whistling Woods films like Film City, Kanche, Aalav and the Filmfare-nominated 500 Rupay are already streaming on the platform.
Alaksha, winner of The Perfect 10 award at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival in 2018, is a fast-paced drama set against the backdrop of Mumbai’s 26/11 attacks, while Hoop Diaries, is a 2014 sports drama about a girl overcoming a deeply personal trauma. The short Manorath, inspired by Rabindranath Tagore’s short story The Postmaster, won the Best Screenplay award at the Pune International Film Festival in 2015.
The institute’s president Meghna Ghai Puri stated, “Whistling Woods International is extremely proud to announce its association with Disney+ Hotstar. Through this venture, viewers across India can choose inspiring and thought-provoking films created by our talented students. By providing a platform to these aspiring filmmakers, to be able to showcase their work, we hope to inspire future generations of artistes to pursue their dreams and follow the institute's motto of Do What You Love."
