Just like actors, props also become an integral part of a film at times. Munnabhai and Circuit's motorbike with a sidecar is still remembered by fans of Rajkumar Hirani's Munna Bhai MBBS (2003). We will soon be seeing a similar vehicle in the upcoming Dil Bechara (2020). According to director Mukesh Chhabra, the sidecar is a character in itself and is seen very often in the film.
Talking about the motorbike, Chhabra said, "The sidecar is an important prop in the relationship between Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi's on-screen characters. Our film actually has this bike, which is Manny's bike, and it has a sidecar. So we used to keep singing songs from the movie and taking the bike for a spin. The weather in Jamshedpur was so unpredictable, it suddenly used to rain and we loved running out into the rain like kids."
Talking about his friendship with the late Rajput, who died by suicide on 14 June, he said, "We actually used to be each other’s stress buster. Whenever we got an opportunity, we would dance and sing on set."
Dil Bechara, Rajput's last film, is an official remake of the Hollywood film The Fault In Our Stars (2014) based on John Green's novel of the same name.
Disney+ Hotstar will stream Dil Bechara from 24 July for subscribers as well as non-subscribers as a tribute to the late actor.
