Sarbjit actor Ranjan Sehgal dies of multiple organ failure at 36


The actor was part of many popular Hindi television shows like Crime Patrol, Rishton Se Badi Pratha, Gustakh Dil and Tum Dena Saath Mera.

Actor Ranjan Sehgal died on Saturday due to multiple organ failure at a Chandigarh hospital. He was 36. The actor had reportedly not been keeping well for some time due to an unknown ailment. The actor was cremated yesterday.  

Sehgal began his acting career with theatre. After moving to Mumbai, he tried his hand at television serials and movies. He is best known for playing the role of Ravindra Pandit in Omung Kumar’s Sarbjit (2016). The film starred Randeep Hooda and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. He also featured in the Hindi film Karma (2013) and Punjabi movies like Yaaran Da Katchup (2014) and Mahi NRI (2017).

The actor was a well know face on television and was part of many popular Hindi serials like Crime Patrol, Rishton Se Badi Pratha, Gustakh Dil, Tum Dena Saath Mera, Saavdhan India and Rishta.com.  

Reacting to Sehgal’s death, his friend Om Doliya, executive producer at Zee Punjabi, told the Engish daily, Indian Express, “It’s a huge shock for all of us. Just a day before, we had a conversation regarding an upcoming show on Zee Punjabi. He was quite happy with the role. I never saw this coming. I had known him for ten years.” 

The Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA)) expressed their condolence on the actor’s death. Their official handle tweeted, “#CINTAA expresses its deepest condolence on the demise of Ranjan Sehgal (Member since Nov 2010).”
