Director Raja Chanda has started pre-production on his upcoming film Magic (2020), featuring Ankush Hazra and Paayel Sarkar. Artistes Bidipta Chakraborty and Debshankar Halder have also been approached for the film, whose second female lead has yet to be announced. According to a report by the English daily, The Times of India, the director is supposed to begin shooting for the film at the end of July.

The shooting of Chanda's film Bhoy (2020), featuring Hazra and Bangladeshi actress Nusrat Fariaa, had to be halted mid-way due to the lockdown in March. The director, who still has five days of shooting left on the film with Fariaa, will now have to wait for international flights to resume before beginning work on it.

Chanda, who has directed many popular films like Sultan: The Saviour (2018), Kidnap (2019) among others, was to begin shooting Magic from 24 July, but had to postpone it due to the recent lockdown imposed in Kolkata's containment zones.

“We will create sets on the floor and shoot according to government rules and norms. We will use montage shots for the song sequences of the film. Meanwhile, we have started pre-production of Magic,” said Chanda. He also revealed that Hazra, is currently attending acting workshops with veteran theatre director Sohag Sen.
