Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, 77, and actor-son Abhishek, 44, have tested positive for COVID-19 and been admitted to the Nanavati hospital at Vile Parle in Mumbai, a short drive from their residence in Juhu.
Unconfirmed reports about Bachchan having tested positive were doing the rounds earlier in the day. The actor himself confirmed the news on Twitter late in the evening.

Soon enough, Abhishek Bachchan revealed that he had also tested positive. He said both have only mild symptoms and there is no cause for panic.
Earlier today both my father and I tested positive for COVID 19. Both of us having mild symptoms have been admitted to hospital. We have informed all the required authorities and our family and staff are all being tested. I request all to stay calm and not panic. Thank you. 🙏🏽

Abhishek Bachchan also said the municipal authorities have been kept informed and all their instructions are being followed.
The state of Maharashtra has been reporting a spike in COVID-19 cases in the past couple of days with 7,862 new cases reported yesterday and 8,139 today.
On the work front, Bachchan was recently seen in Shoojit Sircar’s Gulabo Sitabo (2020) which was released directly on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video. The film saw him working with young star Ayushmann Khurrana for the first time.
