Zee5 to premiere Prakash Jha's Pareeksha on 6 August

This slice-of-life film, shot in Bihar last year, is about the struggles of a rickshaw-puller to give his son a good education.

Filmmaker Prakash Jha's next, Pareeksha: The Final Test (2020), will have its digital premiere on Zee5 on 6 August.

The film stars Adil Hussain, Sanjay Suri, Priyanka Bose and first-time actor Shubham Jha.

The drama was premiered online at the London Indian Film Festival (LIFF) last month due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pareeksha is the latest Hindi film, after Gulabo Sitabo (2020) and Shakuntala Devi (2020), to go for the OTT (over-the-top) route over a theatrical release because of the pandemic.

Jha's film, which was shot last year, features a rickshaw-puller (Hussain) who wishes for a good education for his son in an English-medium school and a kind police officer (Suri) who helps the boy achieve his potential.

The slice-of-life film takes place in a Naxalism-affected area of Bihar.

This is Jha's first film as director in four years after Jai Gangaajal (2016), starring Priyanka Chopra. He was earlier seen as Rattan Singh Tomar in Saand Ki Aankh (2019) with Bhumi Pednekar and Taapsee Pannu.
