The entertainment industry in India is one of the worst hit sectors in this COVID-19 pandemic. The industry, which gives employment to millions of people all over the country, was completely shut for two-and-a-half months and had to incur losses running into thousands of crores of rupees.
Now, shoots have started in some states under guidelines provided by the respective state governments.
To celebrate the artistes whose support has instilled hope in the film industry, the Indian Film and Television Directors' Association (IFTDA), headed by producer Ashoke Pandit and inlcuding filmmakers Subhash Ghai, Rajkumar Hirani, Rohit Shetty, Madhur Bhandarkar and Aanand L Rai, actor Anupam Kher, music composers Salim-Sulaiman, singer Sukhwinder Singh, and producer Anand Pandit, has produced a song 'Hum Kalakaar Hain'.
The uplifting number has been written and sung by Sukhwinder Singh in his robust voice. The music for the song has been composed by Salim-Sulaiman. The video has been narrated by Kher, showing visuals of a film industry in action, in the past and the present.
Speaking about his association with the video, Anand Pandit, who has two films, Chehre (2020) and The Big Bull (2020), awaiting release, said, "Each and every producer in the film industry right now is more than grateful for the unyielding support we have received from the various unassuming people in the industry, who have stood by us through the tough times.
"Every person who is part of a film makes it what is it and enables us to tell stories that live beyond ages. If anything, this pandemic has brought us closer together in unity and gratitude, and this video is a tribute to their [undying] spirit which shapes our industry against the immovable foundation of the city of Mumbai."
