SonyLIV has released the trailer for its upcoming web-series Avrodh: The Siege Within, based on the army's surgical strike in 2016 on terrorist camps across the Line of Control in Jammu & Kashmir after a murderous attack on a military camp in Uri district.
While the surgical strike was also the subject of a popular film Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019) starring Vicky Kaushal, the web-series, starring Amit Sadh, will show a side of the event that has not been explored so far.
The trailer starts with Neeraj Kabi's character remarking that while every Indian knows about the surgical strike, many do not know the ‘real’ story behind it. Then we see some discussion between Kabi and Vikram Gokhale, who plays prime minister Narendra Modi, which is followed by some frenzied action as troops, led by Sadh's character, begin their preparation.
The web-series is based on Rahul Singh and Shiv Aroor’s book, India’s Most Fearless. While Uri: The Surgical Strike is still fresh in the minds of viewers for its compact, action-driven storytelling and it is natural that audiences will compare this web-series with the film, the trailer suggests the makers have tried to match the production quality of Aditya Dhar's film; the production quality is almost cinematic.
Avrodh: The Siege Within is directed by Raj Acharya and also stars Madhurima Tuli, Darshan Kumar and Arif Zakaria. It will be premiered on SonyLIV on 31 July. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch this series.
