Priyanka Chopra Jonas has landed a two-year multimillion-dollar first-look television deal, according to an exclusive report by Variety magazine.

The actress and producer began etching out a Hollywood career when she became the first Hindi film star to sign up with the talent agency CAA and landed her first series lead in 2015 with ABC's Quantico.

With films like Baywatch (2017) and Isn't It Romantic? (2019), she also became a name in Hollywood. So it came as no surprise that Amazon Studios signed her up. Studio head Jennifer Salke told Variety, "Priyanka is drawn to exciting original content and characters that can resonate globally. She is a powerhouse producer, and we are thrilled to collaborate with her for years to come.”

Chopra Jonas is already producing a dance reality series, Sangeet, with husband Nick Jonas. The television project will follow families of brides and grooms as they prepare and compete against one another in the wedding tradition of the sangeet.

The actress will also headline the spy series, Citadel, with actor Richard Madden, being produced by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo.

“My quest really is to be able to tell female stories, work with creators from around the world and create a cross-pollination of storytelling,” Chopra Jonas explained to Variety. “Amazon is such a great partner to do that because their reach and outlook is so global. My Amazon television deal is a global deal, so I can do Hindi language, I can do English language, I can do whatever language I want.”

She is both producing and starring in Amazon's Sheela, a film about spiritual guru Rajneesh's enigmatic assistant Ma Anand Sheela. According to a May report by Media Partners Asia, the streaming platform has 17 million subscribers in India, while the leader is still Disney+ Hotstar with 18 million.

The actress is also starring in the Netflix films We Can Be Heroes, directed by Robert Rodriguez, as well as The White Tiger, with Rajkummar Rao. She is also part of The Matrix 4, produced by Warner Bros, that has been halted temporarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Her last Hindi film was The Sky Is Pink (2019), directed by Shonali Bose.
