Author and former Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) officer RK Yadav’s book, Mission R&AW will now be adapted into a web-series by Bohra Bros. The book is a spotlight on Rameshwar Nath Kao, the man who founded India’s external intelligence agency, RAW.
Interestingly, the life of the man who founded RAW, will also be the subject matter of Karan Johar's film, based on the book, RK Kao: Gentleman Spymaster by Nitin Gokhale.
Speaking about his book, Yadav said, in an official statement, “My book gives an insight into the professional acumen of Mr Kao and how RAW came into being. Despite his many achievements, he was monitoring China in the 1962 war when he was attached to Jawaharlal Nehru as his PSO.”
Producer Sunil Bohra, who has produced a lot of films so far, feels that this will be his toughest project. “To document the story of Mr RN Kao is by far my life’s most challenging and important project. Our team has been working on this project for the past two years. The book authored by Mr Yadav gives an elaborate account of the founder and India’s foremost intelligence agency,” he said.
Bohra believes that they didn’t want to make a film on the subject since two hours are too less to present Kao’s achievements. “Hence, we decided to make a web-series so that justice can be done to the man who we, and our generations to come, all should be proud of. A team of experts will be roped in and the series will be shot in Bangladesh, China, Sikkim and USA.”
According to an official statement by the makers, "The web-series will chronicle the infamous sabotage of the ‘Kashmir princess,’ a chartered aircraft owned by Air India in 1955, which while en route from India to Indonesia, was damaged mid-air by a bomb explosion and crashed into the South China sea claiming 16 lives on board.” The series will also feature the emergence of Indira Gandhi after the death of Lal Bahadur Shastri in Tashkent.
