Kabir Khan’s sprawling period web-series turns the spotlight on another forgotten bunch of freedom fighters, the men and women of the Indian National Army.
The five-episode series will follow leads Sunny Kaushal, as Captain Sodhi, and newcomer Sharvari Wagh as Maya, as they train in Singapore and to liberate India from British rule. Along the way, friendships are formed, love stories emerge and losses are endured, as many in the army risk and sacrifice their lives for the greater good.
The period saga has a grand scope and seems as if no cost has been spared to tell the story. The cast includes hundreds, and shows the perspective of the British and Indian forces. Khan previously directed the 1999 documentary of the same name. This fictional series, though, is has been based on true events.
Kaushal is the most famous name in the cast and we’ll likely meet some newer stars with this latest Amazon Prime undertaking. The Forgotten Army will begin streaming on Amazon Prime from 24 January.
