Vegali Vaat is another Marathi film on a farmer’s plight, but thankfully from the trailer it appears to be a genuine effort rather than using such important issue as a cash cow, which seems to be a trend nowadays.
Ramu (Sharad Jadhav) is a farmer who has borrowed money from a local loan shark to pay off his bank loan. His daughter Sonu (Anaya Phatak) is a bright student and everybody is fond of her, especially a couple who are educators. One day, when Ramu is faced with ultimatum to pay off his loan within two days, the couple offers to pay off his debt, but on one condition, they will adopt Sonu and take her to a city with them.
The trailer gives away almost everything except the climax. But on positive side, the film looks good and the effort of the technical team is quite visible from trailer itself. Along with shedding light on plight of farmers from Vidarbha region, film also focuses on the father-daughter relationship.
Newcomers like Sharad Jadhav and child artist Anaya Phatak look promising, as Jadhav manages to tug your heartstrings. Experienced actors like Geetanjali Kulkarni and Yogesh Soman also play key roles in the film.
It’s not a unique subject to begin with, but from the trailer, it seems that writer-director Achyut Narayan has made a genuine effort.
Produced by Jayashree Shah and Tushar Shah under their banner Imaginit Productions, Vegali Vaat is slated to release on 7 February 2020. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch this film.
