Box office: Good Newwz gets good news even on second Monday, reaches Rs163 crore nett

The film stands a good chance of becoming Akshay Kumar's highest grosser till date.

After an impressive run at the domestic box office on its second weekend, director Raj Mehta’s Good Newwz passed the second Monday test also with flying colours, which is quite an achievement. The film collected Rs5 crore nett yesterday, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com. 

Starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani, the film is a comedy around the error of semen-swapping in an IVF (in-vitro fertilization) lab.

In the first four days of its second week at the box office so far, Good Newwz has earned Rs38.50 crore nett. As per BoxOfficeIndia.com, the film is expected to cross the Rs50 crore nett mark in the second week as well. 

The grand total of Good Newwz so far stands at Rs163.44 crore nett. As per our trade sources, the estimated cost of the film is Rs70 crore. Hence, it has already become another success story for Akshay Kumar.

Akshay Kumar’s highest grossing film so far was his previous release, Housefull 4 (2019), which finished at Rs205.60 crore nett. Good Newwz’s performance on the rest of the weekdays will determine whether it will come close to the Rs200 crore mark.

Meanwhile, Salman Khan’s Dabangg 3 seems to be taking its last breaths at the ticket window. The film, directed by Prabhu Deva, made just Rs40 lakh on its third Monday yesterday, taking its overall total to Rs134.67 crore nett.
