Sidharth Malhotra to star in the official remake of Tamil hit Thadam (2019)

Actor Sidharth Malhotra is set to have a busy 2020. The actor has already signed on for Shershaah, a biopic on Captain Vikram Batra, a hero of the Kargil conflict of 1999, as well as Indra Kumar's next with Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh.
Now, the actor has also signed on to play the lead in the official remake of the 2019 Tamil thriller, Thadam.
The film, which is yet to be titled, will go on the floors in May and have a start-to-finish schedule. The Tamil thriller was directed by Magizh Thirumeni. The Hindi remake will mark the directorial debut of Vardhan Ketkar, who was an assistant director on Mubarakan (2017) and Student Of The Year 2 (2019).
Based on a true story, Thadam revolves around a petty thief and a businessman, who are lookalikes, caught in a murder investigation. The remake will see Sidharth Malhotra in a double role for the second time after A Gentleman (2017).
The press release stated, "Thadam is inspired by a real-life story and got a lot of appreciation for its twists and turns which result in an unexpected climax. The team feels it has the potential to appeal to a Hindi-speaking audience."
The film will be backed by Murad Khetani, who was one of the producers of Kabir Singh (2019). Khetani is also producing Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 which is slated for release later this year.
